If you like maps you will ooh-and-aah over this book. If you are interested in the area, you will probably deepen your knowledge of the land and its people. Unfortunately, the target audience (the diaspora from Carpathian Rus) is not large and this will probably result in the beauty of this book being overlooked. But, I am glad I bought it and I hope many others do, too.

A clear and clear-eyed history of this corner of Central Europe forgotten in most histories but representing in microcosm all the tugs of war of European history over the last 1500 years. Magocsi’s maps are immaculately informative. A worthy postscript to his essential Historical Atlas East Central Europe.

Great book with helpful maps and information describing the ever changing physical, religious and cultural border shifts for the Rusyn people.
